What I just read in the TV magazine made me very sad: a reader asked why the series "Wunderbare Jahre" (The Wonder Years) (1988-93) is not available on DVD. The answerby the magazine editors is surprising and disturbing: because the background music used in the episodes is too expensive! Think about it. A more-than-15 year old TV show cannot be brought to DVD because the rights to play the (probably something around 30 year old) background music is too expensive. That is so sad. And another example why the copyright law (at least in Germany, and most likely in many other countries) is bad as it is - it destroys culture! Source: TV Digital 20/2009. Tags:
