So, die Hinrunde des Südkurier-Tippspiels ist beendet, und ich "überwintere" auf Platz 28. Das ist zwar nicht mehr so grandios wie mein zwischenzeitlicher 2. Platz, aber immer noch respektabel (vor allem in Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass mich schon seit 4 Wochen das Pech verfolgt - da wurden am laufenden Band sicher geglaubte 3 Punkte noch in der Nachspielzeit vernichtet). Dabei ist Überwintern nicht so ganz richtig, da die Rückrunde getrennt bewertet wird. Insgesamt waren es übrigens über 800 Teilnehmer.

Now it's official: Germany is not - and never will be - a hockey nation. Today's match versus Finland was a shame, Germany lost 0-5. The penalty killing was terrible and there were too many penalties, which is a bad combination. The goalie and most of the team were overstrained, the offense was mostly harmless (seems they're all Douglas Adams fans). In the second period there were indeed some scoring chances, but nothing really compelling. Where went the German virtues? Where was the spirit? I couldn't see any, maybe with the exception of Manuel Klinge, who at least tried.

Summary:

I am really upset that I got up at 6 in the morning on a Saturday just to see this epic fail and to listen to such great comments as "Germany has not given up" when they managed to have a single scoring chance in the third period just because the Fins weren't paying attention while changing their lines. That had to be said, thanks for listening.

Der Sonntag war eine Nullnummer, aber gestern war ich im Bundesliga-Tippspiel erfolgreich wie noch nie: 6 Spiele - 11 Punkte. Meinen Abstand in der Tabelle zu Thorsten konnte ich damit wenigstens ein bisschen verringern; das findet er allerdings gar nicht gut ...
